Goosebumps

GOOSEBUMPS

Director : Rob Letterman
Year : 2016
Genre : Fantasy
Rating : ***

After several failed attempts to bring his beloved series of children's horror books to the cinema, R.L Stine's  'Goosebumps' is finally given the big screen treatment in this visually creative and energetically charged fantasy comedy that combines live action and CGI to wonderfully zany and nostalgically fun effect. Starring Jack Black as Stine himself, 'Goosebumps' sees the many horrifying creatures of the stories run amok through downtown Delaware when they are unwittingly released from their pages by a group of young teenagers. A shaky start threatens to derail the film before it has a chance to get going but thanks to some strong performances (most notably from Black who is brilliantly barmy as the eccentric Stine) as well as some fun special effects, 'Goosebumps' turns out to be a great spooky spectacle that should keep monster lovers both young and old fully entertained. A new Halloween classic.
