Alvin & The Chipmunks : The Road Chip

ALVIN & THE CHIPMUNKS : THE ROAD CHIP

Director : Walt Becker
Year : 2016
Genre : Children
Rating : **1/2

Alvin, Simon and Theodore once again take centre stage in 'The Road Chip', the fourth and least annoying entry in the hugely popular 'Alvin & The Chipmunks' franchise. In this somewhat more adult orientated adventure, the squeaky-voiced singing trio embark on a cross country journey to prevent their beloved guardian Dave (Jason Lee) from getting engaged to his latest girlfriend. On their travels, the chipmunks get up to all sorts of shenanigans - becoming the target of a relentless air marshall (Tony Hale), joining a New Orleans carnival band for a sousaphone rendition of 'Uptown Funk' and even, at one point, sharing an airplane meal with trash-master John Waters! Babysitter friendly jokes about 'The Shining', 'The Terminator' and 'The Exorcist' will fly over the little ones heads but the continual bright colours, slapstick comedy and funny voices should keep them fully occupied while adults will wish they were watching 'Deadpool' playing next door instead.
