It is extremely refreshing to see that during this seemingly-neverending drought of good comedy in cinemas, there are still movies out there like 'Sisters' which have heart, soul and above all, genuine laughs. In 'Sisters', comedy superstars and real-life BFF's Tina Fey and Amy Poehler play the rambunctious Ellis sisters who return to their childhood home before their parents (James Brolin and Dianne Wiest) put it on the market. Before saying good-bye to their beloved home, Kate and Maura throw one last crazy party in an attempt to mend broken bridges as well as relive some of their lost youth and what ensues is chaos, drug taking and sexual escapades among some very real moments of gentility and honesty.

Director Jason Moore (of 'Pitch Perfect' fame) certainly keeps the energy levels high throughout the films overzealous running time and while not fully given the chance to give their best work, Fey and Poehler once again prove themselves to be two of the funniest women working in comedy today - their sharp wit, hilarious turn of phrase and undeniable chemistry serving as the movie's sturdy backbone. Sometimes the relentless vulgarities and profanities do wear thin and there are certain points in which the narrative loses it's contagiously charming effervescent edge. However, things are kept afloat thanks to the talents of it's two trail-blazing stars and a fine supporting cast including Maya Rudolph, John Leguizamo, John Cena and two scene-stealing performances from Brolin and Wiest as Maura and Kate's exasperated yet perpetually horny parents.
