Serving as a concise inventory for every horror movie convention ever created, 'The Boy Next Door' is a hilariously inept psycho-thriller from director Rob Cohen. Starring Jennifer Lopez as a high school classics teacher who ends up having a one night with a psychotically obsessive student, 'The Boy Next Door' continually generates laughter and cheap thrills thanks to its use of the most basic and overused generic cliches. Not only that but the script is clunky, the performances are unanimously dreadful and the scares are so pedestrian that even the softest of movie goers will have no problems with the supposed horror of the movie whatsoever. In fact, nothing about the film works at all.

But while it seems that I have nothing but bad things to say about it, I had an absolute blast watching 'The Boy Next Door'. Much like 'The Room', 'Troll 2', 'Jaws : The Revenge' and Neil LaButes 'The Wicker Man', 'The Boy Next Door' is so utterly bad that it is something of a peverse masterpiece. Not since 'Whiplash' have I had such fun at the cinema and for that, I recommend 'The Boy Next Door' completely.
