The Emoji Movie

THE EMOJI MOVIE

Director : Tony Leondis
Year : 2017
Genre : Animation
Rating :

There is no why reason 'The Emoji Movie' should be as truly dreadful as it is. As 'Inside Out' (2015) and 'The LEGO Movie' (2014) have already proved so brilliantly, any seemingly ridiculous scenario can be transformed into something truly special if enough imagination and insight is applied to it. Sadly, imagination and insight were in very short supply when Sony Animation executives greenlit this vile monstrosity that not only stands as the worst of the year so far but arguably, the worst animated movie ever made. It is corporate cynicism at it's absolute worst, flogging a substandard tale of identity to kids for the sole purpose of promoting crappy mobile apps without providing its young audience with any entertainment value whatsoever.

Not one second of 'The Emoji Movie' is original - from its generic plot of an outcast going on a quest of self-discovery being a total rip-off of Disney's far superior 2013 adventure 'Wreck-It-Ralph' to its characters (voiced by 'Deadpool's T.J Miller, the ever-present James Cordon and even Sir Patrick Stewart) who are the most dull, unfunny and annoying seen in recent cinema history. With consistently terrible jokes that will fail to make even toddlers giggle, shameful product placements, dialogue that is both cringe-worthy and infuriating ("Haven't you even read an e-book?") and a story that has no semblance of creativity whatsoever, 'The Emoji Movie' is a poisonous, vindictive, contemptible and spiteful piece of consumerist propaganda that should only be watched by children as a form of corporal punishment.

  1. Movies can be located at various resolutions. You are able to enjoy new movies on theaters or at your house on DVD player but you will need to accept some associated pitfalls.
