Despicable Me 3

DESPICABLE ME 3

Directors : Pierre Coffin & Kyle Balda
Year : 2017
Genre : Animation
Rating : ***

After a four year absence from the big screen, Gru and his minions are back to cause more chaos in 'Despicable Me 3', the latest film in Illumination Studios immensely popular animated comedy franchise. Steve Carell once again stars as the bizarrely accented former villain and now adoptive father who unexpectedly discovers that he has a long-lost twin brother named Dru (also voiced by Carell) who wants his sibling to return to the world of villainy and help him maintain the family's nefarious reputation. Meanwhile, 'South Park's Trey Parker dominates proceedings as the fabulously moustachioed and hideously mulleted Balthazar Bratt, a hilarious antagonist whose ridiculous costumes and novelty weapons hearken back to his glory days as an 80's child star. While not as consistently funny or as emotionally rich as the superior 'Despicable Me 2' (2015), this very entertaining threequel will still provide audiences both young and old with plenty of post-exam laughs. As always, the slapstick antics of the adorable yellow minions are immensely enjoyable to watch while the aforementioned Bratt is a spin-off-worthy addition to this consistently great series. Full of chuckles and heart, 'Despicable Me 3' is the perfect way to kick off another Summer holiday season.
