After 10 years of terrible reviews, poor box office returns and numerous Razzie nominations, Paul W.S Anderson's 'Resident Evil' series finally comes to an end with 'Resident Evil : The Last Chapter', the sixth, but probably not the last installment in the horror/action video game spinoff. Milla Jovovich once again stars as the ass-kicking, gun-wielding Alice who, after a decade of fighting hordes of undead monsters, finally returns to her hometown of Raccoon City to destroy the dreaded T-Virus that has ravaged mankind once and for all. As is to be expected with any Paul W.S Anderson film, very little is provided in the way of character development; most secondary players are simply there to be zombie food or bullet fodder, the dialogue is just as braindead as it's zombie co-stars and the performances for the most part are pretty lacklustre - apart from 'Game Of Thrones's Iain Glen who really chews the scenery as T-Virus mastermind and ultimate bad guy Dr. Alexander Isaacs.

It doesn't make any sense whatsoever and there are plot holes throughout but for all of it's many faults, I must admit that I rather enjoyed 'Resident Evil : The Final Chapter'. It's certainly not going to win any awards and newcomers will not be won over but for fans of the series, this is a suitably fun, dumb and wholly satisfying conclusion to a fun and dumb franchise. However, if the history of horror cinema has shown us anything, the ''Final'' of the title doesn't mean anything and this series is far from done. Let's just hope that the inevitable reboot will at least try to be a more faithful adaptation of it's far superior and far scarier video game counterpart.
