Bad Neighbours 2

BAD NEIGHBOURS 2

Director : Nicholas Stoller
Year : 2016
Genre : Comedy
Rating : ***

In a plot almost identical to the first film, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne reprise their sweary roles as Mac and Kelly, the now expecting middle aged parents who face great difficulties selling their home when a loud all-girl sorority (led by a fiesty Chloe Grace Moretz) unexpectedly moves in next door. Once again, the majority of gags are, in typical Rogen/Goldberg fashion, centred around sex and marijuana and while these jokes, many of which are recycled from the original movie, do become tired relatively quickly, 'Bad Neighbours 2' still works thanks to the fizzing chemistry between its characters. Rogen and Bryne are very likable as the central couple whose pleas of quietude fall on deaf ears, Moretz is wonderfully brash as the rebellious teen hell bent on revenge while returning star Zac Efron steals the show as the dim-witted, muscle-bound Teddy who uncharacteristically finds himself on the side of the "old guys". Not particularly memorable but fun nonetheless with a couple of vulgar set pieces guaranteed to raise big laughs in an auditorium.
