With the talents of a great cast and the backing of the two most voracious producers in Hollywood, it is surprising just how predictable 'Burnt' really is. Bradley Cooper stars as Adam Jones, a foul-mouthed chef and former addict who travels to London to rebuild his shattered reputation. Recruiting the help of both old acquaintances and new culinary wizards, Adam cooks up a storm in his kitchen as he furiously endeavours to earn his third Michelin star.

As always, Bradley Cooper brings his all to his his portrayal of our volatile central protagonist while a supporting cast which includes such A-listers as Daniel Bruhl, Sienna Miller as well as fleeting appearances from Uma Thurman, Alicia Vikander and Emma Thompson all add to the movies potential. However while it may take advantage of Cooper's frenetic acting style, the severely undercooked script by 'Eastern Promises' writer Steven Knight lacks much in the way of narrative inspiration while John Wells' televisual direction dispenses with any of the volcanic flair that made 'August : Osage County' so perversely entertaining to watch. Fun at points but not my bread and butter I'm afraid.
