The actors, directors and screenwriters have done all they can and tonight they find out if their hard work has finally paid off. Yes, tonight marks the Academy Awards - a time when many of Hollywoods brightest stars gather together in Los Angeles to celebrate and congratulate the very best movies of the past 12 months.

As always, controversy has swirled around the nominations this year and listeners of my weekly radio show on 102.5 The Bridge will be more than familiar with my thoughts about particular snubs and undeserving recognition. However, the dust has begun to settle and in a few short hours, the world will know what the Academy feel are the absolute best motion pictures of 2014.

In what has become something of an annual tradition, I am going to make my predictions of what films will win an Oscar tonight based on previous awards success, critical acclaim and of course, how much I liked each individual picture. Now, my track record hasn't exactly been stellar in this particular aspect and this year has proved to be one of the most well-fought Oscar races since I started reviewing films nearly 36 months ago.
