An Apology......

 AN APOLOGY.....

After a much needed break from both my blog and the movies in general, I'm back! Over these past few months away from my keyboard, I have really been able to recharge my writing batteries and I now feel that I am willing and ready to go back to doing what I love the most. Of course, an  absence of any considerable length is bound to contain some rather glaring omissions so to rectify this, here are some very quick one or two sentence reviews of the movies I watched but failed to review here:

The Equaliser - As is always the case, Denzel Washington proves to be a charismatic leading man but even he can't save this action-filled but emotionally vapid big budget remake of the cult 1970's TV cult classic.

Guardians Of The Galaxy - It may not be as entertaining or as enthralling as either 'Captain America : The Winter Soldier' or 'X - Men : Days Of Future Past' but it is about damn time that someone made an honest-to-God fun superhero movie.

Dolphin Tale 2 - A cute but forgettable sequel to an equally cute but equally forgettable original.

Life Itself - An astonishing documentary about one of my true idols, the late, very great film critic Roger Ebert.

Maps To The Stars - I have professed my love for the work of director David Cronenberg and this extremely engrossing psycho-sexual thriller does nothing to change my adoration or respect for this master of exploitation cinema.

Annabelle - I knew I'd hate this lazy and completely predictable ghost thriller. Its the fans of 'The Conjuring' I feel sorry for.

and finally.....

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes - I promise I did try to write a review for this film but I really, REALLY  couldn't. Let's see what January brings....

Over the next few weeks leading up to New Year, I will be fiercely catching up with the films that I have missed over the past 4 months as well as the few dozen movies I failed to see throughout 2014. My annual Top and Bottom 10's will of course be posted in the first days of January and 2015 will see the genesis of many more features and ideas I have for the site. To all of those who continue to read my reviews and listen to my weekly radio show, I am truly grateful to you and I do promise that next time I decide to have another unscheduled sabbatical, I will give a bit more of a warning!
